Frequently Asked Questions

We begin with a free assessment in your home, where we discuss your needs with you and any involved family members. During this assessment, we will develop your personalized plan of care, a list of the services you want and when you want them. Remember, we work for you.

Q: What is in-home care?

A: In-home care enables seniors to remain in the comfort of their own home while receiving one-on-one assistance from a professional caregiver. This allows them to live safely at home maintaining their independence and quality of life.

Q: What are Safety 1st Services?

A:  We understand that not everyone needs regular visits from a professional caregiver.  That’s why we developed a range of package plans that provides you with only the help you need.  It is an easy and economical way to have peace of mind.  Click here to see a full list of our Safety 1st Services.

Q: What is the difference between live-in care and hourly care?

A: Live-in care offers around the clock assistance for those clients who feel more secure knowing that there is help just seconds away.  Live-in care is ideal for those who are recovering from surgery, have a tendency to fall, or are bed bound.

Live-in does not mean that they move-in. Our caregivers will typically work 2-3 days and then rotate with another caregiver.  They will need a quiet place to rest during the night.

Hourly care provides service for those seniors who need help on a regular basis.  Our caregivers can provide care ranging from 2 to 24 hours per day, depending on your needs.

For those who are just looking for minimal services our peace of mind please review our Safety First Services.

Q: Do I have to sign a long term contract?

A: Absolutely not!  Our agreements are opened ended so you can cancel services at any time for any reason.

Q: How does A Better Care Home Health screen and hire caregivers?

A:  Every applicant must provide two years of positive work history as well as positive personal references.  In addition, we perform a full state and federal background check and a driving record check on every potential employee and we verify that they are clear of TB.  CPR Training is provided.  Finally, they must complete a basic training course before the can begin work.

Our caregivers are fully insured, and covered by workers compensation insurance.

Q: How do you supervise caregivers?

A: Before care begins we work with you to build a care plan outlining the type of care you expect.  We create a schedule of the days and times you want service.  On the day of the fist visit we will bring the caregivers to your home and personally introduce them to you.  This gives us an opportunity to review the care plan and answer any questions that you or the care giver may have.   After each of the first three visits we will contact you to ensure that the visit went well and that you are satisfied with the performance of the caregiver.  From that point on we will keep close contact with you through phone calls and /or home visits.
A coordinator from the office is available 24 hours per day to address any concerns you may have.

Q: Can you provide services in places other than just the home?

A: Yes. We provide care anywhere that you may need it. We can provide round-the-clock companionship during hospital stays and we can even travel with you while you are away from home.  Please call the office for a full list of services that we can assist you with.

These are just a few of the more common questions we receive.  Please contact the office  by telephone or by email if you have additional questions.  You can also schedule a free assessment by clicking here.
